Alport syndrome is a rare genetic kidney disease which affects men and women. People with Alport syndrome require long periods of dialysis, suffer renal failure, hearing loss and eye abnormalities often by the time they are 25 - 30 years of age. 

 

There is no cure for Alport syndrome.
